ITALIAN LANGUAGE CLASSES FULLY ONLINE ASYNCHRONOUS

Technologically-mediated communication is one of the most fundamental social changes characterizing our students’ lives today. Online tools are powerfully transforming learning opportunities, helping us reinvent our approaches to collaborative learning and narrowing certain accessibility gaps. One of the key benefits of online learning is its flexibility. The efficacy of this mode for language learning has been attested by numerous scholarly studies, as well as by the phenomenal success of commercial products like Duolingo and Babbel.

During the online classes students will watch recorded lectures and practice reading, writing (typing), and listening. They will also practice speaking skills and upload audio files of their own speech. All of the online lectures are accompanied by a virtual lab with a variety of online assessment tools (multiple choice, fill in the blank, fill in multiple blanks, true/false, matching, multiple dropdowns quizzes) on the Canvas platform to improve the quality of learning.

We will also utilize other multimedia tools such as video clips and text files related to course content. A number of online programs will facilitate students’ writing, reading, speaking, and listening skills. The Canvas platform and other online tools are important devices for encouraging student-student, student-teacher, student-content and student-interface interaction and will facilitate in the overall assessment of the effectiveness of the course. Instructors will monitor how students are meeting their deadlines for turning in weekly assignments connected to the asynchronous classes. go-to font for titles, paragraphs & more.
